  • How do I cycle through FCP tabs?

Is there any key/shortcut to cycle though tabs in a Final Cut window? I’d be able to move a lot quicker if I could quickly tab thru to the filters or motion tab, or switch between several open sequences, but have never been able to find a keyborad shortcut, or find any command that was mappable.

Go to FCP feedback and join the list of people who have requested this feature.

    All the best,

Somebody posted this a little while back:

    command-shift-tilde

CMD-Shift-Tilde cycles the windows, not the tabs within the windows. Tom’s is correct, we need more folks to request this sorely missed feature.

Oh, the TABS! Yes, that would be nice. Still, I love finally being able to cycle windows.

Well, you can pull the tabs apart, and then they become separate windows, and then it will work, but of course, that uses more screen real estate!

But how do you add this command to the keyboard layout? Typing in Shift-CMD-` in the keyboard layout and button list does not reveal a command???

Wouldn’t it be even nicer if the window under the cursor would always be the frontmost, automatically. To me, there are so many extra double-clicks onto a back window to make it active when editing.

At least that is what I would like.

Oooh, that would be waaay tweaky for me. Rarely do I click to select the window, I usually use CMD 1-4 to get to the window I want. Keyboard shortcuts all the way baby!

    Hi!

I am a premiere pro 2 editor, now learning FCP (its amazing how similars they are; i guess premiere guys copied FCP interface) and i would like to know if there is any way to put the effects tab in a separate window. Yes, I know i can drag the tab, and a separate windows appears, but it disaapears as soon as i double click any other clip. It just returns to the viewer as a tab.

… and… is there any way to view a clip in the viewer with just one click, no double click? I just wanted to select clips in the timeline (one click)and see the it
