  • How do i create particles blowing off text in a z depth direction?

Posted by Chris Huggett on April 21, 2005 at 12:28 am

    Hi guys

I have some footage shot of a person fighting her way towards the camera in a wind tunnel. Actually its not a wind tunnel, but a big fan, giving the impression she is fighting against a tornado.

On Screen i need to composit some text and this text needs to have particles flying off and into the z depth.

Kinda like the U2 Beautiful day video, where Bonos on the runaway with trails of smoke behind him.

I cant think of how to do this and was wondering if anyone had any ideas

    Thanks
    Chris

    How about try this way:
fristly create a layer with Particle Playground effect, contral the “scale” of the particles by “scpersistent property mapper” with a map. After that you can imitate a z-depth movement.
but the problem is that all the particles will look at the camera.if you wanted them to look at the centre of the Particle Playground,I have no idea about it..
By the way,it seems that the trapcode Particular plugin can make a better result, try this plugin if possible.

Trapcode Particular is a 3d particle system. You will have total control over xyz.
    Absolutely fabulous plugin.

Using Shatter with a Gravity Inclination set to -90 will cause the particles to fly away from the camera.
