  • How do I create an audio “take” from Audacity?

    Hi,

I’ve got an audio clip, I open a copy in audio editor (Audacity), do my thing in Audacity, then export to wav. I expected this to show up on the time line as a take. Did not work. I saved it as an Audacity project as well. That didn’t help.

The clip is automatically renames as “take x” so the first part is working. I can edit the audio no problem. I just can’t get the newly edited file to show up as a take. I am confused. I thought I did what the manual said.

    What is/are the step(s) that I’m missing?

    TIA.

I must admit I didn’t know this function worked with other designated audio editors than Sound Forge, but I just tried it with Cool Edit and the new take arrived fine back on the timeline.

My workflow was Right click > Open Copy in Audio Editor …. made a change in Cool Edit, closed CE and selected “Save”, and Take 2 was there in Vegas.

Thank you. I was taking and extra step. Not realizing that I didn’t need to. I just had to go in, edit and close out. Thanks so much.
