How do I create a 8.5″ x 50″ and tile print it so its spans 4-8.5″ x 14″ sheets
I want to create a document that will be 8.5″ x 50″ that I have it printed on 4-8.5″ x 14″ sheets through my printer, which I then cut and tape together. How do I do this in InDesign CS?

2 reasons you need more that 4 pieces of paper to tile your job.
1) Most printers do not print to the edge of teh paper, because the gripper has to grip the paper without ink/varnish adn that is what keeps your printer clean form loose toner/ink.
2) You need overlap (.125″ minimum), to register your prints against.
You will need 8 pieces of paper to do this. Now if you document was 8″ x 40″, you could then do it on 4 pieces of legal paper.

file >> print
Choose setup underneath general on options at left
enable tile and set an overlap
