  • How Do I Colorize a Prematted Image

Posted by Elli Raynai on March 23, 2008 at 12:59 pm

    Hi,

I am using some images that i purchased from Videocopilot.net (the riot gear series) and they have images which are black and white splatter paint. All I have been able to do either make the paint splatter black or white, but I want to know and how to make it a different color such as red.

Please let me know, if anyone knows..or if I’m not being clear I will do my best to clarify.

    Thanks!

These are not “prematted” images. These images are mattes. You need to use them to matte another image. You can place them above a footage layer and enable “Luma Track Matte” on the footage layer. Alternatively you can use the Channel > Set Matte effect.

Select the image in the timeline. Go to Effects>>Color Correction>>Hue/Saturation, check the Colorize box, and then decrease the Colorize Lightness and increase the Colorize Saturation controls. Adjust the amount of degrees in Colorize Hue for different colors.
