  • How do I change the colour of a Mask Shape?

Posted by Sean Kenny on January 6, 2009 at 5:00 pm

    Hi all,

Hopefully a simple one. I’m trying to create a lame old effect (as seen on the opening sequence of Murder She Wrote) where the footage is bordered by a white oval shape. I’m using FCP 5.1.4. So far I’ve added a mask shape oval and put a mask feather on that to soften the edges, but it’s currently black and I want it white. I can’t work out how to change the colour! I’m surely missing something, or is there a better way of achieving this? Can anyone help?

    Many thanks,

    Sean

Take your footage with the mask, move it up to your V2 track. Go to your video generator bin, shape, and drop a square onto the V1 track. Make it white and large enough to fill the screen.
