How do I batch export clips from a single file individually?
I am working on a project where I am creating a slideshow in iphoto that contains both photo and video. I have about 15 FCP projects, each dedicated to a separate event. What I have done is gone through the video of each events and cut out little 3 or 4 second clips from within the larger clips, and deleted the rest. Each project has probably at least a hundred smaller clips. Is there a way to export each clip individually so that when I pull them into iphoto and create a slideshow, they can be inter-dispersed among the photos?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Where are these hundreds of smaller clips? On a timeline?
If so, select all those clips and drag them to a bin, then select them in the bin and choose File > Batch Export.
If they are already in a bin, just choose File > Batch Export.

Ah.. see that’s where it gets interesting. I have done that, but when I export them, for some reason they just export as a single clip that is the length of the original file form which they came. Even before it’s exported, when they go to the export window, the duration for each one comes up as the same duration (which is the duration of the original file). Is there something I’m doing wrong?

When you see the Batch Export Window, click on settings, then click on “Use Item in and Out”.

I did that… for some reason it still ends up exporting the while file. 🙁

Yeah, that probably should work, but for some reason it isn’t for me. I took a screen shot so you can see better what’s happening, incase I’m doing something wrong.

As you’ll see, there are the original clips that have been dragged from the timeline, and then there are the clips labeled with “copy” which are the duplicate masters. In the Batch export window, they still all show up as the same length. Thoughts?

Are the clips on the left are what you are trying to export?
And if you select them, select batch export, then click settings, and then make sure “use item in and out” is selected, then export, you still get the whole thing? Don’t pay attention to what the window says, but go all the way through the motions.

I’m not totally sure, but I think what happened before is that I wasn’t highlighting the files before I selected “use item in and out.” I just got it to work. Thanks so much for your help!
