I want to make something like this, but I don’t know how.

I’ve tried a Displacement map, Bezier Warp and several other distortion effects, but they almost look alright, but it squishes the bottom.

Do I have to manually edit the masks for the letters? Is there no procedural way to achieve this look? I’d prefer to do it in After Effects, but if it can be easily done in Photoshop, I’ll do it there, I just don’t know as much in Photoshop.
