When I said it could have been done with shatter, I was talking about the cutting-out portion.

Now that I look more closely, that would mean they are imitating the stop-motion jiggling on the computer. Which is still possible, but I don’t know if that’s more reasonable than just saying it’s stop motion.

The folding looks like 3D to me… and the cuting is probable AE, like the rest. I agree that the stop motion looks more like “The Wiggler” tha real stop motion.

The reveals on the trees are nice and cute. This is quite an amazing animation, no doubt about it.

Once I wrapped my head around the idea it only took me about 45 minutes. After reading this thread, it took me a day and a half to come up with a productive way to tackle the task.
