How did they do this with h.264? (Long video low size)

Ah ok,

well the text that appears is all white text (looks like arial or helvetica) over a colour background, most of the time a black background.

All the rest is 3D animated models, moving slowly on screen. No real people, no fast action, all very slow clear movements as well as super close ups of the product moving very smoothly and slowly. There is no Vo, just music.

Well then THERE’S your reason it compressed so small yet remained so clear. The CONTENT is a video compressor’s DREAM.

Good tools to keep the propeller head in me busy 🙂 I’ve already gotten some better results just simply using x264’s “Tune” options in the QT export dialog box.
