  • How did they do the new ipod spots with those glowing trails?

My first guess is they used the 3-d-stroke plug-in and somehow drove that with motion-tracked data from following the ipod around the screen. I suppose it *could* have been shot with super-long-exposure od a gimmicked ipod that had super-bright ligting put in it, but somehow I don’t believe that’s what they did in this case.

If you don’t know how they did it, what’s your best guess? It looks tremendous.

Best guess is Maya Paint Effects.

Definitely didn’t use Final Cut Pro. Probably a 3D animation program or Shake or some other high end compositing / SFX tool. Might want to pose a question like this in the AE, Shake and other SFX forums.

Here’s the grfx company that did it: Exopolis

Like all things Apple, they’re sworn to secrecy about how they did it! 🙂

I can tell you that they’re creating the new main titles for the next season of MTV’s “The Real World: Denver”.
