how did she do it ?!
Haai,
i’d like to ‘dive in’ photoshop cs2 for my studies, because there are a few pictures that intrige me so much and i’m realising what a broad horizon you open with knowing how to work with photoshop!
i’m soo curious how the photographer has gained such a colours, such a smooth, painting-like effect… if anyone has an idea how she (more or less)has done it , please let me know!!(i tried to find the specific internetadres, but is stays the same with every picture…so if you get to http://www.desireedolron.com, you click on the first square of ‘art work’ -at the bottom of the page- and you click on the 6st & 8th square above it..hope it’s not to much trouble.. )

I’d guess that much of it is in the lighting of the subjects. There may also be some manipulation of the colors through curves.

I suspect that you are quite right that she is a “master lighter” but it strikes me, Jim, that she also used some blend mode tricks and probably some of the kind of techniques that Andrew Kramer’s video tutorial on “Blemish Removal” explored. At least some of that beautiful lighting could be added after the fact by combining some mode tricks and the techniques seen in Andrew’s tutorial at:

Even though the article is for After Effects users, the principles and techniques used are totally adaptable and usable by Photoshop artists.

Ron, absolutely right.
The wonderful thing about digital manipulation is how many tools are readily available to the artist. Downside is, one can’t always figure out techniques easily. I’ve been using Adobe tools since 1994 and still consider myself just a student–there’s always so much to learn no matter how much you already know.
That’s why resources like the COW and user groups are so useful. Give some, get some.
