    I made this AMV some time ago. Unfortunately, the Vegas project file was deleted, so I can’t refer back to it. What I wanted to know was how you think I managed the scene at 2:06 when the Balrog’s face is overlayed in front of Gandalf.

    It looks like I somehow achieved a circular camera mask for the face. Beyond that, however, I distinctly remember feathering it so that there wasn’t a sheer contrast between where the overlay started and the rest of the scene. However, the Sony Border effect blurs from the outside of the original clip in, regardless of what sort of mask is used.

    Any help would greatly be appreciated. 🙂

    It looks like you may have used the Sony Cookie Cutter FX.

    You’re welcome. Cookie Cutter is a very versatile effect that is often overlooked.
