How consolidated a afx project with qt reference(avid)
I do a big project in after effect and i will backup it on firewire drive but my problem is i do qt reference in avid to do the project and when i do a collect files they do a quictime reference to and i will erase it on the scsi drive ??

Yeah, that is indeed a problem and the only 100% safe way really is to convert all reference clips to real ones. You could also try to find all relevant Avid clips using the media tool, consolidate them to a separate disk/ partition and copy them to your backup along with the media database and Avid project files, but this isn’t very safe because when you restore those projects, you may loose other data of projects currently running. As a compromise you might create a complete video mixdown of the clips in question and export this complete clip (or its corresponding single OMF file). In case of an OMF file, you can always manually re-link it later on when you restored it from your backup. I’m not completely sure though, since I haven’t worked on an Avid for quite a while.
