  • how can use final cut x and color?

Posted by King Law on March 10, 2012 at 5:39 am

ive recently upgraded to final cut x and i still have my final cut pro studio, i like some features from final cut pro x but i was hoping to keep my COLOR(the application)from my finalcut studio. is it possible to fix my colors using color then do the rest in final cut x?, or is there a way i can do some color grading in final cut x?

    thank you

The only way is to use Xto7 then from 7 Send To Color. You should look into the free DaVinci Resolve if you need roundtripping to/from X.

PS: Although I like Color as well, you can get similar grading functionality within X by adding Tonalizer, DVShade, Moods and/or Nattress curves as plug-ins. The main missing ingredient is a true shot-to-shot grading workflow.

Yes. DaVinci Resolve Lite. Full function up to HD frame sizes. Only works with BMD I/O hardware. (Not required.)
