  • How can i make two stroke outlines around my text

    Hi there

I have some text animation in AE, and i would like to apply 2 strokes to the text. I would like the stroke to be sharp like the stroke in Illustrator.

Is there a way to do this without duplicating the layer and making the underneath one fatter.

I tried the simple choker method but that produces rounded corners.

    Thanks for any ideas

    Chris

You can put the Stroke Effect on a mask twice, just dup the effect in the Effect Control window, then change the color the second time, you get one color stroke bordered on both inside and outside with the other color.

Or you can dup the mask, double click on one of them (say Mask 2) to get that transform box like in Photoshop, then drag the the mask bigger, then dup the Stroke again, and change it’s color, and choose Path = Mask 2.

Both ways are all on the same layer, one method with one mask, the other method with two masks (one expanded).

Is that what you want to do.

Thanks for your suggestion, but i need to do it on text. I have some properties assigned to the text that makes it animate. Unfortunately, masks wont allow me to take advantage of the animation

    Cheers

Couldn’t you just use the Text Stroke in AE’s “Text Pallette” for stroke one, and for the second stroke duplicate the text layer, but this time with stroke only and no fill?
Then add your animation to both layers.
