How can I force Preview Render ?
Hi!
I am pretty happy with CS5 but the “Mercury”-Thing often thinks that it wouldn’t need to render just to find that it has to. But not always. So I often get a yellow line that doesn’t play realtime but still won’t turn red for rendering.
So in the past (CS4) I simply put on a sensless effect like Brightness and Contrast with everything set to 0 just to force it to render a preview.
But that doesn’t work anymore as that “mercury”-thing thinks it could do that realtime.So how can i FORCE Premiere to render a clip ?

Set the work area around your clip and select render workarea from the sequence menu.

That’s exactly what I decribed is not working.
Premiere doesn’t recognises that is has to render.
That’s why I am looking for a solution to FORCE render on a clip.Who has another idea ?

Check again and make sure that you used the command that Jon suggested, Render Entire Work Area. That command should render anything with a red or yellow bar. The Render Effects In Work Area only renders things with a red bar.

What they mean is don’t just press the hotkey ‘Enter’ to render the part you want rendering but actually go up to the menu and from the options select Render Entire work area. It will render the yellow parts as well as audio that needs any rendering.

No Worries I responded while at the traffic lights, (naughty naughty) so I couldn’t quite remember the detailed instructions and terminology to follow exactly. But Todd knew where I was coming from 🙂
I have that particular render setup in my Custom KB short cuts as “Shift+Enter” as I think of the Shift modifier as a super upgrade of the original key, such as “M” to match, I have the ‘reveal in project’ set as “Shift+M”

Was looking for this today, found the post, thank you guys. Just FYI, four years on, it’s called Render In to Out now.

And now in Premiere CC 2014.1 it’s Sequence->Render Entire Work Area 😀
