How can I create a fast movement effect with travel time and blur in a smart way

I have a project where I need a layer to move a great distance over a short amount of time, so it will create this movement visual on the screen with a strong motion blur (this happens in a random direction and distance every set amount of seconds).

Thanks to some great help from this forum, I have a script that can make my layer travel about 30000 pixels over the span of a second.

Even though it technically works and gets me the results I want, working in these sizes just to get this effect is obviously not the smartest way of doing it and it also brings up its own set of problems.

How can I create this effect in a more effiecnt way?
