How best to downsize to 720p
Hi! I’m working on a small cable series that was shot in 1080i. When we deliver the final project, the station will downsize it to 720p for broadcast. I was thinking that I’d rather keep control over that process AND working in 720p would be easier for my system to manage.
My question is, is there a better way to place 1080i footage into a 720p comp other than just scaling it down? I’m sure any process would eliminate the 2nd field on each frame and interpolate to fill in the gaps since it’s going to progressive. Is there anything to watch out for, what not to do, etc.? Or is there a better way to convert it other than using AE?
