I know I can go through and stop all processes (once I spend the time looking up each one to see if I can do w/o it) in Activity Monitor; but I’d like to create an account that starts up w/ something similar to SafeMode -in regards to stripped-down start up processes, which freed up alot of resources, but took forever to boot, and I cannot run Motion in it)

I’ve removed login items for this user, but there are system wide start up elements that this user wouldn’t need, yet I don’t want to impact the other user accounts by scraping them altogether.

    Any ideas?

    10.5.6 MBP IC2D 2.33; 4GB

    Much thanks,

    Ryan

Any unnecessary processes that will be there when you have not opened any application are so minimal that they will not make any difference.

As an example if you start up a machine and have nothing running except activity monitor, the thing using the most processes that is NOT system related will be activity monitor.

Besides what difference does it make Motion (the program you say you want to use) is GPU based NOT CPU based.
