Hot key fo making preassigned duration clips
Hi list,
Is there a hotkey or any automated method for marking in and outs of a set duration in the viewer and inserting that clip in the timeline. I normally do this by maring in/out and inserting but it would be dreamy to be able to scrub through footage in the viewer and hit just one key to get a preset lenght clip added to the timeline. Might be wishful thinking……

Might be able to do it with QuicKeys. I don’t know enough about it. Otherwise set the In point, click in the duration box, type in 5. and enter (for a five second clip) and press F10.

Also you can save yourself a click in the duration box by pressing Tab with the Viewer or Canvas window active.

Thank you for the Quickeys suggestion too Tom.
Perhaps this is also a good way around making selects from multiple viewers and accidently using the insert key for any viewers other than the main one – I make this mistake constantly and have never understood FCP’s rationale for not allowing you to use the insert or overwrite hotkeys from any active viewer.
