Well, here’s another interesting one. I thought that this might go away after I rendered the project but after doing a sort of test render on a small region of the video, I sw that it didn’t go away.

I created a horizontal scrolling text to scroll across the screen. To do this, I used the Sony Text Video Media Generator and keyframes to create this effect. I set the opacity at about 50% so that the image would show through.

But while it created much of the desired effect, it appears that the text, which is quite large, blots out certain parts of the image with a sort of blue’ish static in certain spot. It happened both before and after rendering. How can I get rid of this?

You should not have to reduce opacity to 50% to see the underlying video. Instead, you SHOULD use a transparent background for the text.

I’ll try this, though I think this might be what I did. Actually what I need is for the letters in the text to also be transparent so that the images behind them show through.

Take a look at Vol 2 #5 of my newsletters. The “Beginner’s Corner” article shows how to make one video show through text while another video plays in the background.
