  • Horizontal scroll renders choppy?

Posted by Ryan Turner on March 5, 2015 at 1:48 am

I have a psd 10000 X 1080. It contains 4 photos and some text. I am scrolling the file from right to left over 10 seconds. When I RAM preview it on my monitor it looks fine. When I play the QT file on my computer it looks choppy and when I send it to my client that is all they are seeing. But if I play it in Premiere or AE it looks fine.

    Render settings : 1920 X 1080 PRORES HQ Best

    Any suggestions?

…and what is your frame rate?? what is the speed of your move (in pixel values)?

Try to use some motion blur.

I am working at 24 fps. I don’t have the file with me now, but it is moving a 10,000 pixel (width) image string across the frame in under 9 seconds. It is 4 images in a row with text attached. Images look a bit choppy but the type (red on black bkgd) is almost unreadable.

Would doubling my frame rate help?

See Todd’s link: I think it summarizes pretty well all the issues you may encounter when shooting and designing graphics motion at lower frame rate… then there is a fair amount of test & trial to see what works the best for your particular needs.

    Good luck,
