  • Horizontal lines and settings?

Posted by Melinda Jimenez on December 13, 2013 at 9:00 pm

    Hello,

I am new here and am in need of help. I am using a JVC Everio EZ10 Cam. I have been using it for a while now with no problems on vegas platinum and pro. Recently, about a few weeks ago, I notice horizontal lines on my video. Whenever something moves, the lines appear. I have tried properties, blend fields etc. But my videos still have lines. In some videos it is very noticeable and in others it’s less noticeable but still there. The settings I have always used to render are sony avcmvc (.mp4, .m2ts;.avc): avchd 1920×1080-60i.

I’ve never noticed any issues before until now with those settings. I upgraded from platinum to pro in the last 2-3 months and my videos had no lines.

I am a beauty enthusiast in case you’re wondering. So most of my videos involve close ups of products, reviews, and tutorials. Please help.

    Thanks,
    Mel

It definitely sounds like interlacing is not set correctly. What are your project properties? Can you post a screen shot of your project properties? This should be set the same as your source files.

How are you watching these? If you render interlaced, and watch on a non-interlaced device (i.e., a media player on a PC) you will see the lines. These won’t be seen on an interlaced TV. If you your target delivery device is a PC/Internet, then you should be rendering progressive not interlaced.

Thanks for your response. Here is the link to the settings that I have always used. https://s16.postimg.org/s7d1r3csl/prop.jpg

I upload these videos on youtube and they usually look pretty good, up until now. I think when I used sony vegas platinum, things were better. The only change is upgrading to pro 12.

Having viewed your output on YT, John is spot on. Do you understand the difference between Interlace and Progressive and delivering to YT?

    Cheers
