Holographic display
Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying to make a holographic interface in a similar style to this https://fc06.deviantart.com/fs45/f/2009/152/c/1/Type_XV_PADD_Circa_2400_Final_by_madeinjapan1988.jpg in After Effects but I’m having some trouble. I’m trying to make the background sort of gently undulate so the dark parts subtly move around and have been experimenting with fractal noise but just can’t seem to get it as smooth and wondered if anyone had any ideas that could help?

Maybe try making the background animation from solids with animated feathered masks.

Having done a few holographic displays I got a few things to recommend:
1- variable glow
2- Displace the layer using a animated displacement map consisting of an animated gradient
3- use directional blur – blur horizontal one frame and then vertical the next a few times to create slight distortions of the image.I’m sure that there’s a lot more you can do, but the above should help.
