    Hello All

Apologies for what might be a very obvious question.

I would like to edit in a 1280 x 720p sequence as I have some poorly shot interviews, which could be greatly improved with a bit of repositioning. Source material is XDCAM HD 108050i 35Mb/s VBR.

Possible delivery to DVD but also computer and web playback, but as of yet undetermined.

Any suggestion for sequence setup? Is it a good idea?

Was experimenting with dropping everything into a ProRez or DVC Pro HD sequence.
All of which, as many of you know, have pro and cons regarding quality etc etc. Also considering that the source material is interlaced..then going to progressive sequence.

    Hmm..just looking for any suggestions.

    Many Thanks
    Daniel

Your media is quite a bit larger than 1280×720 so you should have enough extra space for reframing.

There is a function in FCP preferences in the current version about what to do with images that don’t match sequence size. You can set it to automatically rescale or do nothing. You might want to set it to the latter if you’re going to reframe a lot of them.

    All the best,

    Tom

What Tom says, and then you will probably have to get a nice deinterlace going on your material when you are done.
