    HM650 Firmware 2.0 Update and Live Streaming

    Hi,

    We just got the chance to update one of our 650’s with the new 2.0 firmware. It looks like live streaming is a much touted feature.

    Has anybody gotten a chance to play around with this functionality at all? Any successes/failures to report? It would be great if JVC had some sort of documentation that gave a basic walkthrough. I’m used to being able to send out rtsp/rtmp from IP based cams… but it looks like the JVC wants me to stream via TCP/UDP?

    I guess I’m just a bit confused as to how we can best make use of this awesome feature for our live news broadcasts. Idealy we’d LOVE send a person out with a camera and wireless hotspot and be able to somehow ingest that footage into our TriCasters back at the studio.

    Any advice or ideas are greatly apprecaited!

    Hello Ryan,

    I have had a lot of good help from Doug Mullin, JVC’s west coast guru.

    He helped me navigate the menus to set up the remote viewfinder in my iPad 3 for my 650.
