  • Highlights not Aligning

Posted by Jared Isham on January 15, 2011 at 11:35 am

I have a DVD menu that I created in Photoshop and the highlights for the buttons don’t seem to be aligning properly in Encore CS4. In the editor of Encore everything lines up perfectly, highlights appear as they are intended, etc. As soon as I preview it in the Encore preview window, my highlight shift out of alignment.

This happens with both text highlights and graphical highlights. My text highlights are a simple text layer with a different color and no effects on the layer.

The rest are basic layers with shapes (arrows, outlines, etc.) with no effects.

You can see the issue I’m having in the images below.

What is the resolution and pixel aspect ratio of your Photoshop menu?

1929×1080, didn’t think of that. My thought was to use the same menu for the BluRay

Make sure you create a separate PSD file in Photoshop for the SD version. Encore does a horrible job of scaling.

The file should have the proper pixel aspect ratio and resolution. Do not use square pixels for SD.

    Fantastic, that worked.

Now my highlight colors aren’t staying consistent. I have them set up as a yellowish color “deda76” but they keep showing up a dark brownish color, which as you can tell doesn’t work to good with the background being brown.

Can’t seem to find a reasoning as some are working and others aren’t with all the settings apparently the same.

Colors of the highlights are not defined whatsoever by the Photoshop PSD file. They are defined by the menu color set in Encore. Go to ‘Menu > Edit Menu Color Set’

This one is a little off of the topic of my original question, but how do you get the text to update on a scene selection page when you link it to an object.

Another thing is I am having to update both my text highlight and the text when changing the text in my menu from Encore.

More of a time saver at this point.
