i have a shot of video with three faces on it.

I need to highlight each face with a circle around it.
And i need to do it all on the same shot,, and the highlight circles
need to come up one second apart …

i know how to highlight one thing on one shot, (i use the circle tool and color effect to darken the outer portion of circle, but I don’t know how to do more than one in the same shot.

    How’s this done?
    thanks

Are you using Xpress Pro or Media Composer? If you are using Media Composer you can use Paint and draw three different circles as well as draw a separate shape around the background to darken it.

I like to use two layers with color affects and animatte. I find more control this way but certainly nothing wrong with the technique already mentioned.
