Highest Quality Export w/ mpeg-4 container & H.264 Codec FCPX

[Josh Birch] “Hi Guys,

What is the highest possible export option with an mpeg-4 container (.mp4) with a H.264 codec. My client is asking for this format but can’t figure it out?

When I go to Export > Master File it only gives me an option for .mov container with H.264 codec….

You need to set this up in Compressor. One option is to built a Setting’s Preset using QTExport Components – Encoder Type:MPEG-4 … and then customize by pressing the “Configure” option.

I don’t have fcpx in front of m but if I make no mistake you can create an mp4 file using the “Apple device” setting. One of the submenus will give you the possibility to chose “Computer” and this creates a non .mov h264 file.

Could be a solution to your problem without goint to Compressor ?
