Highest Quality Export Settings for a backup video file please?

I get to DNx.. settings via DNx.. at format option
then DNx.. at preset option
then 1080p DNx.. at video codec resolution option
With the quicktime setting at format option
I get 720×480 output where as my source file is 1080p

Can I ask a really dumb question? If you (or anybody, really) are just saving the files as backup and you want the highest quality, why not just keep (or make copies of) the original files, along with the Premiere Pro project file? Mind you I don’t do this professionally and I may be missing something here, but sometimes, from the minds of morons, come the simplest solutions. That’s gonna be on my gravestone, btw.

source file 1080p .mov
24 fps
low compression
video Overall bit rate : 88mb
16:9
audio Bit rate: 1 500 kb/s
premiere 2017 @windows 10


Please check/correct me if the following I have done so far is ok:

default DNxHDformat
DNxHQ 1080p 23.976 preset
1080p DNxHD HQ 8-bit video codec resolution

I have one reminder from another person says


most systems accepts MXF format,
but sometimes incompatible.
It is better if you also get .mov in DNxHD as well.


If you agree, would you show me how to get to .mov. selection output via DNxHD please ?

Thank you Duke, very valid question
I’ll keep the source file and the Premiere pro project file OK
On the other hand, I am not the editor, and I may not be having the premiere pro let’s say in a year or two time
Considering I may not access to the person who does my editing right now, as well as premiere a year later

I rather have the output video file as a backed up copy.
Does that make sense?
