I’m working with anamorphic 720×480 clips in FCP 4.5. I’m able to transfer my clips from a 720×480 sequence into a 4:3 sequence (my final out) and they letterbox correctly. However, when I try to render the 4:3 sequence at “high-precision YUV” (SequenceSettings>VideoProcessing) the clips become a Matrix-like mess in the Canvas window. I’m able to render the 4:3 sequence at 8-bit YUV, but some still pics that I animated in After Effects look blurry and flicker (which they don’t when I render the 720×480 sequence with “high-precision”).
I’ve read my manual and Ken Stone’s article on Render settings, I believe everything is set properly. If this is an issue b/c of the shift in aspect ratio, does anyone have a suggestion for making my AE clips look less blurry at an 8-bit YUV render?
    Thanks.

If you’re working with DV footage, there’s no reason to use the High Precision YUV settings. 8bit is a correct setting for DV footage.

High Precision is only needed if you’re working with 10bit native SD or HD footage.
