  • High frequency ringing in WMV export

Posted by Adam Farrell on February 2, 2010 at 3:29 pm

The footage was shot with a Canon GL2 using the onboard mic. Sound is fine in FCP as well as when it is exported as a mov or mpeg4 but has a high pitch ringing when exported as a wmv using flip for mac. Unfortunately at my work the IT dept. will only accept wmv files for streaming so it is my only option, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What bit and sample rate are you using for the audio. If you lower the sample rate from, say 44100z to 22050, you in effect cut the high frequency response. It might eliminate the problem without affecting the audio too much. Just a thought.

    Hey John,
Thanks for the advise, I did try lowering the sample rate and it did cut down on a bit of the noise.
