  • High CPU Utilization when clicking on Timeline

Posted by John Riker on December 3, 2013 at 5:37 pm

I am using Premiere CC and have an hour twenty minute video loaded in. MP4 and not oversized. 4.8GB. Everytime I click on the timeline, my 12 core system jacks up to almost 80% utilization for about 2 minutes before showing the spot I clicked on the timeline which was about 30 seconds further on the timeline. Short of rendering for hours why is this happening? I haven’t had this problem with the other four videos I’ve worked with.

NOTE: I did a basic render of the scene and didn’t do any good.

Here are some stats on the video in question:

Are you on 10.9 Mavericks? I’ve heard a few cases of this happening, but I’ve never encountered the issue myself.

Would be interested if you have a reproducible case.

    Thanks,
