Okay, let’s see if you guys can handle this one.

I’m doing a text effect where a guy is walking through a forest and some text starts fading up onto the screen in different places.

Now, how can I make it so that some of the text is “hidden” behind the trees on screen?

I have the text moving a bit with keyframe animation, so bear that in mind.

Do I have to create a mask and mask over part of the image? If so, how do I get that mask to block out the text but not the actual video image of the forest underneath?

I have never used a mask on Vegas but I’m sure I could learn it fast if you guys gave me a primer.

You might look at the Bezier Mask in the Pan/Crop.
