    I’m trying to create a muzzle flash from stock footage, and I need to hide part of the muzzle flash that would be covered up by a gun. It’s a rear perspective.

    I’m using AE 6.5 academic edition.

    How about a mask in the shape of the gun (rear view) on the muzzle flash layer?

    Thank you very much! That’s what I was after. It helped that you said on the muzzle flash layer because I was trying endlessly to put a mask on the video layer.
