I’ve got a local station spec looking for MOVs with AppleProRes422 codec (or H264). I got some footage from a vendor and they said they included the codec on the drive with the footage. When I went to launch the EXE file for it, my Windows7 system said a later version of it was already installed (so I didn’t install it).

But, when I go to output an MOV from VegasPro10, it doesn’t appear as a codec option. Am I misunderstanding something about codecs, and if so, how do I get it to show up in my dropdown list.

Also, is there an H264 codec I can get to show up in there while I’m at it? I see “H263”, but I don’t think that’s the same thing (?)

    Thanks!

The H.264 codec isn’t already installed on your system?
You should be able to output to mp4 either by the Sony MP4 option or the Main Concept AVC.

    Okay, here’s how stupid I am. I didn’t know H.264 meant “MP4”.

    So thanks for that.

Okay, Dave, maybe I’m still an idiot. Did you mean are the Sony MP4 or Main Concept AVC codecs already installed in VP10 or in my Sorenson Squeeze 7? The pic shows what’s in my dropdown list…

    Thank you,

    Kelly:

When you go “render as” that’s where you should see the Sony AVC or MainConcept options.

    Have a look there.
