    Hi

I saw something about large ammounts of render files in the “Final Cut 6 Bugs” story. The guy was talking about 120 gigs of render files burried somewhere.

His fix was this: “It seems that somehow the render files folder got buried in the contents of the actual Final Cut Pro application bundle. The only way I could get to the render files was to ‘Show Contents’ of the bundle. I then deleted them and re-rendered.”

Well, I don’t know what he’s talking about. What is the “bundle” & how do I find it? Does every FCP 6 store gigs and gigs of render files here?

It seems like a great help to have the bugs pointed out, but not all of us are experts on FCP and could use a little hand holding.

    Thanks in advance!

Go to the Applications folder and click on Final Cut Pro. Now, RIGHT-CLICK or Control-CLick on the Application and choose SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS from the menu that appears. That will open up the hidden folder in FCP. In there you might find that render folder. Check all the folders in there.

This bug has been around since FCP 4.5…still happens to the occasional person.

Never had this problem before 6.0.5 (&10.5.6); now part of my renders are being placed where I have told FCP to do them, but the bulk of them are happening inside of the program package file on my system drive. What a larf…

I just found the render files from a large project (2 hours of video) in a slightly older project folder. I would nave never thought to look in there. I just happened to hit the folder and found gigs and gigs of audio render files.

I wish FCP would just keep a project’s render files within the folder the project resides in. That seems so basic. Does anyone know if there is a preference where you can tell FCP to do that?

Thanks for this Shane. This exact problem happened to me twice in the past week where I cut bait and re-rendered for 11 hours each time. Today it happened a third time and I went through the roof. Found this post when I searched the Cow and Voila there they were.

I can’t believe this bug is still around in FCP 7.0.2.

    cheers,

I just tried it (After forgetting about this bug) and I found 23 gigs of old render files…

Can we somehow set the renders to happen in only one place, even when starting new projects?
