    Hello

I just purchased a Canon HF100. Its my first digital camcorder. Thus far works like a charm. Took it mountain biking on a clear sunny day. I came home, inserted the smart card into my Dell, opened up the file with Sony Vegas, voila! Amazing. I love the 21st century.

I would like to buy a “zoom” lens to be able to focus in on distant objects or landscapes. I’m a little confused by all the different lenses that are available. Again, this is my first camcorder. I’m a total newb.

What is the difference between a telephoto and macro/closeup lens? I bought this camera to film a lot of our outdoor activities. We like to mountain bike, camp, etc. Sometimes we get some great views from mountainsides and I’d like to be able to zoom in on stuff. I would appreciate any advice you all can give me.

    Thank you.
