Heroes’ Seeing Sound Effect
Posted by Cindy Lin on October 21, 2009 at 3:04 pmIn this year’s new season of Heroes, there is a girl who can see sound. The sight of sound sends colorful wisps into the air and is beautiful. Does anyone know how to make that special effect or something like it? What program did you use to make it?

November 5, 2009 at 9:01 pmYou can use many different programs to make it, but after effects will work just fine. It depends on what parts you are trying to create. Some of the scenes have the camera rotating around the character. With a shot like that you would need to use some sort of 3D tracking software like Syntheyes or BouJou. If you just have a locked off or single direction shot you can use after effects alone. The light wisps can be created with techniques like this: https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/3d_stroke_effect/ or https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/audio_to_animation/ or https://library.creativecow.net/articles/kramer_andrew/nano.php_2/ or https://library.creativecow.net/articles/kramer_andrew/nano.php I realize all of these are from Andrew Kramer’s site, but that was just the first place I remember seeing these. Creative Cow , Aaron Robinowitz, and many others have these tutorials as well.
