Here is the link for StreamClip free conversion of 7D & 5D
For those who haven’t heard of this (I just discovered it last week), StreamClip is a free download that will convert your software on Mac or PC to the format you desire for your editing platform.
The other cool thing; if you have a bunch of short clips, you can import all the clips into the software and export them all at once as one file if you choose, thus eliminating a large number of clips and converging them into one managable clip for editing. You can still convert clips seperately if you choose.
For us Final Cut users, you would think, since it is a .MOV file, that we could just drop it on the timeline and go to town. It doesn’t work so well, so you have to convert it to ProRes, which is Apple’s codec for editing HD in Final Cut Pro.
I would appreciate it APPLE INC. if you would finally just let us choose what we would like to edit with, format wise, & fix this in Final Cut.
