    Hi,

I have work footage that is shot in HD. When I have finished editing, I want it to be viewable in 2 final formats.

    1. With the original HD letter box sizing that it was shot in, for viewing on a computer.

    2. On an Ipod.

Now to edit to compile the footage for both sizes, seem like such a lot of work (esp considering I am so new to the software). So what do you guys recommend?

Should I just leave it in HD letter box format, but apply a SD title safe border, to work in? Can I even do this? If so how?

Or does anyone have a better suggestion? It is for a work project, so it is of both personal and financial importance.

    Thanks for your time.

    This could be perfect, thanks.

Anyone else have any other suggestion for editing for both?

Are you unaware of the TV and Title Safe option that exists in the pop up menu of the Canvas?

For your internet output, essentially what you see in the Canvas is what you will see online… So I would just suggest that when you are done, export that finished product as a QT movie, then bring in the exported QT movie, scale the size to the look you want in the Canvas, and then export that into a web friendly codec.

    Make sense?

Sounded to me as if he was going to crop 16:9 to 4:3. He’ll still need an edge of video marker for 4:3. You can obviously make your own, but this tool looks handy.

Why re-format to 4:3 for the iPod? Why not just leave it 16:9? That way you don’t have to do extra work and everyone sees the show as you intended.

Eric is Right! Check out the knitting stuff Eric produces with his wife, its a great example of just what he’s talking about.

Hmmm,… thanks for the reply guys…

Well there is an issue,.. the video is exercise information. So there is a visual text reference to the audio (in the form of exercize key points).. that will correspond with the video demo.

I tried exporting it.. then it changed the ratio of the window and the actual model in the video changed shape.. with it. So I researched it and found a web ref to exporting to the ipod which provided ratios. The problem is it was still getting clipped a little.

I had issues either it clipped… or was so little the text was useless. Which is something I may just have to come to terms with. There will be 2 version.. webstream and iPod so if the user was really fussed they could just reference the webstreamed version, though that is useless in the gym, in real time.

Any other good links any one has on keeping original screen ratio when converting HDV to iPod would be helpful?

I will revisit this video again tonight and get back on here (I have been on holidays for a month, so some of the stuff has slipped my mind).

So any more ideas or tips.. I would love them.. thanks again for your time.

    Regards,
    Nathan
