This may a bit complicated to explain, but if it makes sense I would deeply appreciate any replies.

    So… here it goes…

I have created a spline path and a rectangle to “extrude” along that path in sweep nurbs. The single spline path consists of both linear and bezier curves that have their points moved on the x,y and z axis’s.

In the end, there are parts of my surface that aren’t attached. I’ve tried subdivisions and changing the types of intermediate points within the spline and rectangle. While it gets me a bit closer, there are still small “tears” in the image.

It appears to be a problem with mixing linear and bezier within the spline, but I’m hoping there is something I am missing.

    Thanks for your help.

you may be experiencing gimble lock….
so try this… 1. Enable use rail direction
2, duplicate your spline right below itself, same level of hierarchy, 3. offset the spline manually. Pull the points until the sweep image is smooth all the way around..
its a bit of work but sometimes the only way to avoid those bad intersections.

    Thanks Bear.

It’s starting to work a little bit for me. The x,y,and z position changes in the path spline are throwing up a bit of a roadblock, but I’ll stick with it until I get it close. If anything, this is a great learning experience with no clients over my shoulder.

    Thanks again.
