  • Help with selectorValue in the expression selector

    1. is it possible to use the selectorValue variable from the expression selector to copy the motion of a range selector to multiple lines? Like if you have a text layer with 5 lines and you have a simple range selector opacity reveal on just the first line, do you think it’s possible to use selectorValue to “copy” that motion to all the other lines.
    2. I’ve tried many different techniques/methods to even get a basic copying down, but to no avail.

I don’t know of a way to retrieve the selectorValue for a previous textIndex (which is what I think you’d need). I think you’d need some kind of selectorValue.valueAtTextIndex() function.

ah thats unlucky, it’s so much harder to recreate what i want all within the expression selector rather than using a range selector as the driver lol

I think I can only get it to work if the lines have the same length.

I can think of ways that the expression selector can know the character index AND the line index of the current character without checking the sourceText for linebreaks, but not character index within the current line.

Anything would be helpful/useful at this point. The problem is that I haven’t even made a dent in this lol. I thought about maybe using negative time to store previous selectorValues but that logically doesn’t make sense I don’t think.
