So, we’ve been shooting on a Sony XDCAM and rolling multitrack audio separately, and now I want to merge our video and multitrack audio. The only problem is, they pretty much rolled the audio continuously through takes, so when I merge the audio and video, I wind up with a really long clip that is mostly audio with black picture and then one tiny little portion of video in the middle. Is there a way to constrain the length of the final merged clip to the length of the video file.

My only thought is creating subclips out of the audio, but I’d like to avoid that extra step if at all possible.

    Thanks!

I would use the blade tool on your long clips and trim away the unwanted black video and then use the close all gaps command.
