    Hi,

I need some guidance with a lighting set up.

The project has a plane with a DV colour video clip in the colour channel of its material.
Above this plane is another plane with a water material and an animated greyscale clip in the bump channel to animate the water.

There is a lot of quality loss from the original quality of the DV colour video including colour desaturation and increased contrast.

I feel that the primary problem is the lighting.

The best arrangement to date is two omni lights above both the planes to the left and right of the planes but not directly over them.

Any comments on any aspect of this project would be appreciated.

    Thanks Greg

I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish, but it sounds like you might be better off putting the DV clip in the luminance channel.

    Hi Adam,
[Adam Trachtenberg] “I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish, but it sounds like you might be better off putting the DV clip in the luminance channel.”

The final effect is an actor writng on a wall of water between them and the camera.

Tonights experiment — the luminance channel.

    Thanks

    Hi Adam,

Seems much better in the luminance channel.
I also turned off the color channel.
The omni lights now appear to only light the water material and not the clip…
is this whats meant to happen??

    Greg
