  • Help with editing in Premiere with 1080i 24P

    Hello again everyone!

My question this time could be simple, could be very complex. I don’t really know.

I have a camera (Canon HV20) that shoots in 24P at 1080i. In Premiere, my editor of choice, it has presets for 24P projects, and for 1080i projects, but when I edit in the 24P project, I have to super reduce the image to get it down to fit into the screen, and in 1080i projects, the only available framerates are 25 or 29.97.

I’ve tried making a custom project thing, but the options stay at 25 or 29.97, and 24 or 23.976 (or whatever those decimals are) are not options at all.

Is there a way to rig Premiere to have a project that’s both HDV 1080i AND 24P?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I’m afraid it will be on the “very” complex side. Basically, without 24PA, or inverse Telecine on the footage you shot, you’re not going to be able to edit in Premiere without plugins.

Opps, just saw your second post, and it looks like Jon answered for ya.
