    Hi
I use Sorenson Squeeze to covert my QT Ref files to MPEG2
However I have noticed that the top 3-5 pixels show a green line during composited parts (i.e titles and picture in picture effects) of the sequence.

This is in the area of overscan that you would not normally see on conventional TV or a monitor, however it is noticeable when viewing the MPEG2 footage on the computer as the full frame size is seen.

How can I avoid this without having to crop the top 3- 5 pixels off the top of the frame?
Has anybody any idea what I am talking about?

What version of Squeeze and which Avid product/version are you using?

    I use Squeeze version 3.53.300
and Avid Xpress Pro HD ver. 5.2.1
the strange thing is that only the top 3 – 5 lines of pixels only appear as green when played at full frame.

its an odd one can’t work out why, its obviously seeing the data on the quicktime reference file which isn’t obvious when I play the timeline in avid, but I am guessing it must be there, but only when an effect is applied, its as though there is a matte of green in the background but the video hasn’t sufficant height to cover those 3 – 5 lines. Actually it is visible when I select overscan on my monitor.

There was some discussion a while back about this on the Avid Community Xpress Pro Studio User Forums.

Do a search for “Avid DVD green line” and see if that matches what you are experiencing. I think it may have been associated with your version of Squeeze (there have been updates to this program since) and the version of QuickTime you might have.

I’m running the lastest versions of Squeeze and AXP, and I don’t see the green lines on my material.
