I am very new to PS3 and PS4. I have watch the lynda.com tutorials.

I have 5 files in various formats. They are logos and the client wants them will an alpha channel and in vector format. I have jpegs and gifs. I know I can use the magic wand and background erasure to get the alpha channel. that is a no brainer.

Can I convert these to vector images? via smart objects? It can I make a smart object and trace a layer around say…text…logo element…then fill it in and save it as a vector file. (without the layers I traced)

If there is a faster and easier way, let me know.

    Cheers.

I’m still using CS3 so, unless there is some new magic I’m unaware of in CS4, you can save raster images in vector file formats, but you cannot truly convert a raster file into a vector file.
