  • Help with Card Wipe

I have what I fear is a very elementary question, so I will preface it with this: if this was not an appropriate place to ask this question, what would be?

I want to use card wipe to transition between two pieces of video which both have the cartoon effect applied. I cannot figure out how to keep the effects I have applied to the video I want to use as the back of the card. It seems like there must be a simple solution, but pre-composing does not seem to work.

    Thanks very much–

You mean you’re losing the applied effects? That’s odd. but the solution to such problems is to simply render the precomp, reimport the movie, and just use it to replace the precomp in your card wipe.

Thanks very much for the help. I’m having a tough time getting a conceptual handle on precomps

Yar, but, heck, EVERYTHING about After Effects is hard to wrap your head around.
Patience. Some of us have been cranking in AE for more than a decade and we still don’t use more than 20-35% of the features and capabilities. I’ll never understand expressions.

Hmm, I know this isn’t answering your question at all, but anytime I use it I pre-compose and never have a problem with the effects, if you have figured it out let me know what you did.
